![]() Now download and install Etcher, an app that will help. I have some experience with Linux but not much with Manjaro. Start by downloading Ubuntu or any other Linux distro you want to use. But all the ease and simpleness seems gone now. I like Manjaro because the Wifi driver for old Mac hardware just works, unlike with Debian-based distributions. Is anyone using Linux on a 2.4Ghz MacBook (or similar) I might dedicate mine to Linux as a means to having a contemporary and compatible browser - on my Mac Pro I sometimes have to crank up Windows 8 under Parallels to reach certain sites. Wiki.archlinux dot org/index.php/Mac#Arch_Linux_with_OS_X_or_other_operating_systems I have an old MacBook white (Model 2,1 mid-late 2007) which wont upgrade beyond Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). The 2nd half of the hard drive has been set up with separate partitions for root, home and swap as suggested in I’m using ReFind as a boot manager, which already works fine. I’ve used manjaro-architect via live usb, and could use that, if necessary. ![]() So the question is: how do I do a fresh install on that Macbook Pro? With at least pain as possible? Ideally using the old Nvidia drivers, and an older kernel (I suppose?) but I’m open to suggestions. ![]() I assume the last install stopped working properly (random freezes during video playback with VLC or Firefox) because of those new graphics drivers. Re: Installing Linux Mint 18.1 on Macbook Pro & Macbook Post by nonkel » Sat 2:06 pm On a MacBook Pro i5 type: 8,1 13inch, early 2011, I managed to install Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon 64bit using Rufus ( ) on an USB-stick. This time I’d like to avoid running into the same mistake again, and get it to work on my 2009 Macbook Pro right away. So I’m about to reinstall Manjaro after I managed to mess it up badly. ![]()
